Mile 7

The Toll of the ALS road is the passing of friends. It’s a high price to pay but the connections are priceless and the friendships unbreakable.

We woke in Monument Valley Utah, to a spectacular landscape and freshly rained terrain. We also woke to our truck battery dead and unbeknownst to us, our truck breaks blew. After a slew of phone calls the truck will be towed to Cortez Colorado, the nearest dealership. “Turn right at the stop sign… recalculating new rout”.

So it goes without saying, it’s not a matter of if, but when sh*** happens while RVing. We will adapt and overcome this also.

Sadly though I also woke to a notification from a dear friends daughter that he passed. Although I and so many experience loss after loss due to ALS, there are some that hit harder than most. This is one of those losses.

My brother in ALS, Jay Kenney is free of ALS. Jay you helped me and so many with your kind, generous and insightful wisdom. You left before we could meet in person, you do know this was not a race, right. My powerchair races are just for fun, lol. Jay, we will meet again, of this I am certain. Until then save a few bad jokes for me. Damn I’m heartbroken, that’s all I can say. Oh yeah, also…FU** YOU ALS!!
