Of Mice and Fish… zebra fish.

After spending the night at the Hanscom AFB RV campground, which by the way is located adjacent to the runway, we woke for a field trip. Where are we going today Mrs. Reyes?
Well class, since you have behaved very good recently, you get to tour a very special place known as ALS TDI(Therapies Development Institute). It’s a facility that is focused on developing treatments for ALS.
Nooo, Mrs. Reyes that sounds boring! Well Juanito, they use mice and zebra fish to develop the therapies.
Ohh, that sounds cool, can I pet the mouses?
We arrived at the facility and parked Big Blue and where met by Carol Hamilton and Bill Johnston. After our initial greetings we were approached by a gentleman walking a cute dog. Turns out it was Fernando, the CEO and Pip, Pip is the dog not the CEO. But you wouldn’t know given the way Pip commands the crowd and a room, lol.
Given Meg and Mendy’s pension for chatting, it took us a bit to get to the conference room,😉.
I thought I knew what they did, nope! We learned so much from this visit, you can also learn by visiting their website: https://www.als.net/
The one thing that really hit us during the visit was the passion, heart and personal connection to ALS each staff member has. The history cronicled on their photos displayed throughout their facility. It serves to remind the staff of the human impact their efforts impact; many friends past and present in those photos.
Thank you ALS TDI for your dedication and commitment to finding therapies and ultimately a cure!

Thank you Mrs. Reyes, for an awesome field trip!
J Reyes
