Mile 11

Reflections from a powerchair. The folks you meet on the road called life come careening at you and the interaction can be brief, but impactful. Social media is a super highway of sorts; allowing us to intersect with countless individuals. ALS adds a detour, although unique to each of us, we all witness the same landscapes, in due time. For added reality, Meg and I have actually hit the road, the ALS road.

In our efforts to make some of our bucket list dreams come true we committed to our RV. However that wasn’t enough for us. So let’s make it travel with a purpose, thus Death On Wheels was born. The persons and families we are meeting often state that we are an inspiration to them. Truth be told, every one of them is an inspiration to us, truly. We are quickly reminded that ALS is something they have, not who they are. Yes ALS is devastating, but they/we are still the same person.

To everyone we have met, and everyone we have yet to meet…THANK YOU FOR BLESSING US WITH YOUR TIME! We know all too well how precious it is.

As we intersect in this highway of ALS let me share a gem we discovered today.

This museum is by far the race car enthusiast dream! That is an understatement, really. This place is phenomenal. If ever in Lincoln Nebraska you have to visit!
